Fire Alert

So, on Monday I returned from working 8 days in the field to find a letter from the sheriff taped to our door. It said that we were to pack our important items and be prepared to evacuate on short notice. Apparently the fire that is burning in the Snake River Canyon is only 5 or 6 miles from our house. It grew from 4,000 acres to 20,000 acres in 3 days and should the winds shift, it may head north in our direction. This was not exactly convenient as Seth and I were to fly out to Seattle the next morning. We made some speedy plans to pack our most important things in our vehicles and park them in town while we were away. Shawn, Johanna, and her step-dad were generous enough to join us in the evening for some weed whacking, packing, and sprinkler arranging. They are watching the place and caring for Ginger as well. We are very glad for their kind gestures of help and can only hope for the best!
