Thanksgiving

We traveled to Montana for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. A short week of work was followed by a long weekend of play. It started snowing Sunday afternoon and proceeded to snow until Tuesday. When we piled in the car Wednesday, the snow had settled to around 9 or 10 inches. It was beautiful! Ginger loves it and pounces around like a puppy. We returned Sunday evening to about the same amount of snow and long, delicate icicles gracing the roofline.

We had Thanksgiving dinner Helena. Dinner at Marie’s was typical of any of her meals: a regular feast! We ate, napped, and then ate some more. They have three kittens that are almost cats, but are just full of the dickens. Then we all piled into the car again and headed to the farm. We really did pile in this time…Mom, Dad, Seth, Ginger, and I plus all of our stuff.

Of course, we had to have Thanksgiving dinner again once we got to the farm. So eating all around which is typical of the farm as well! Hunting was on the agenda as Joy, Grandma and Grandpa all had tags to fill. The deer were everywhere it seemed and enough tracks to suggest an exploding herd. The end result was plenty of meat in the freezer and glorious dog scraps. We also worked the cows and gave the calves shots and throat massages of molasses and minerals. Alas, the geese flock that everyone insisted must be thinned did not suffer any damages. Not to worry…Grandma informed me that she would be practicing up with her 22 when Grandpa was gone.

We left Helena early Sunday to make it to Missoula for meeting. Sarah (previously Pheifer) and Stephen Heyes have moved to the United States. They were in meeting and we enjoyed having lunch with their little family and Mary.
